3-5 year olds
The Pre-K Combo class is for children ages three years to five years of age and meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. While play based, this class offers an intentional curriculum that blends kindergarten readiness skills with creative exploration. Our teachers want to get to know your child. They are able to give focused attention to their students on an individual and small group level throughout the day. The teachers work throughout the year to adjust each child’s curriculum to meet individual levels and needs. Parents are required to stay and work one day per week, as well as fulfill our other parent participation requirements.
The Pre-K Combo Class experiences a mix of indoor and outdoor play. During indoor time, they are offered free choice of year-round learning stations—creative art, play dough/sensory play, pre-writing/fine motor and a math/cognitive center. The teacher rotates other learning centers throughout the week to include building blocks, small manipulative toys, dramatic play, writing, science, and light table exploration. Curriculum emerges and follows the child’s interest. Following a cooperative clean up time, the children gather for Circle Time to actively participate in music and games, which incorporates Kindergarten readiness skills. After circle time, we offer a snack family-style where children practice self help skills, manners, social conversation and the “Question of the Day”.
During our outdoor time children are offered opportunities to develop gross motor skills using bikes, building blocks, balls, gardening, and dramatic play. We often continue our creative arts, books and science/sensory experiments outside.
